Thursday Thoughts: I'm Lucky

Brian and I just got the kids in bed and had the most random but great time sitting on the couch and chatting together. It reminded me of our DINK days!

This is was an amazing icecream cake (gluten free) from Walmart - $15 - go buy one. Now.

We just sat there chatting and reflected on how far we've come in our ten plus years together.  Not that I'm a marriage expert by any means, but I think one reason that we've been so happy together is that we've learned to grow and change with each other.

No person goes through life remaining exactly the same.  I know I've certainly changed quite a bit in how I act and think and in my life goals from the girl I was at 19.  But we love and support each other as we change.

I don't think I say it often enough because I'm too busy talking about how cute our kids are, but I am so lucky.  I'm married to my best friend, the person I want to talk to about everything.  He's so generous, selfless... the best father I've ever seen.  I definitely got the better end of the deal.

See? Even at our wedding, I was hogging the cake!

I just thought you all should know, since I don't talk about him enough... he's my rock and the backbone of this family.

A few things...

I just have to share a few things new to my life that I absolutely cannot live without right now!  First up, my amazing new ipad... a graduation gift from my sweetie!

The ipad is seriously a mommy's best friend!  I do everything with this little beauty.  Before I got one, I really didn't understand what made it so much better than a laptop.  Well, let me tell you that it truly is!  Just a few of the things I use it for:  making shopping lists and carrying in my purse to the grocery store, playing Elmo videos in the car (yes, this may be its most important use!!!), to-do lists, surfing the web, and looking at recipes while cooking (I have a really cool mount that holds it in the kitchen).  Peanut and I are headed to Steamboat Springs this weekend and I don't know if I would be up to the trip without the ipad.  Hopefully Elmo (and an endless supply of snacks) will keep him happy on the plane.

Next, my sister recently turned me on to a new frozen dessert called Arctic Zero.  Now its not exactly icecream, but the entire pint has only 150 calories!!!  Feel free to judge, but I cannot tell you how many times I have eaten an entire pint of icecream before.  This stuff does not fool you into thinking you are eating Hagen Dazs or Blue Bell, but like I said before "150 calories!!"  It comes in several flavors including pumpkin for fall... can't wait to try that one.

So how about y'all?  Any new fabulous finds out there??

Law School Snow Day!

I can't believe that I'm actually sitting at home right now, instead of in my Advanced Bankruptcy Class, because of the possibility of snow!

When hubbs and I lived in Chicago, I was the biggest wimp alive when it came to inclement weather.  I remember the first day that it really, truly snowed while we were living there.  I opened up the curtains of our bedroom and saw Grant Park covered in snow.  It was so beautiful and I was so excited!  That excitement quickly died once I stepped outside and the slushy wet snow soaked through my boots half way to the L stop.  I cried and told Brian I wanted to move home, lol.

Anyway, I got a lot better over the course of two years.  So even though I think it's a little silly to call off everything because it "might" freeze or snow, I'm not gonna complain!  As we speak, I'm enjoying a delicious mug of hot chocolate and playing with my boys :)

Okay, maybe mine doesn't look quite like this, hehe. {image via lindt.com}
